Aislynn Raine Delorissa Bethea

Cousins Jim & Linda came to visit.
Proud Grandma!

Gene brought the kids for the weekend @ the hospital.

They were great the whole time. A little squabbling over

who get's Aislynn next, but even that wasn't to bad.

Aislynn's first view of the world. Gene said she acted very bewildered and scared. I was being stapled up at the time, but it's no wonder I would be scared too if some Dr. pulled me from my nice warm womb. She was very reluctant to come out into the world.

On November 1st at 11am my water broke. I got ready, and Gene was home within minutes of my calling him, and took me to the hospital. When we arrived and got checked in, they did a test that confirmed my water had broken, then they moved me into a labor and delivery room, and told me to walk. So I walked... and walked... and walked... my back hurts just thinking about it. My labor wasn't starting, and the clinic I go too has been pushing me to go C-section all along because of my high blood pressure and gestational diabetes. I was ready to go along, but then they started having a lot of c-sections, both scheduled and emergency, so they decided to let me try to get labor started myself for a while longer. I was able to get some contractions started, but they would go away, and they weren't making any progress happen, so when the OR finally opened up Friday night, they took me in. Dr. Bair was my attending physician, which I was happy for, because he is one of my favorite doctors from the clinic. After I was numbed up Gene came in and stood next to me, waiting for Aislynn. At one point in time Gene said it looked like the little Dr. helping was sitting on top of me trying to push her up to Dr. Bair. After Dr. Bair made a wisecrack about Aislynn being a monkey with her toes wrapped aroung my ribs though they pulled her free and showed her to us. She is so beautiful, I just cried. They cleaned her up, and Gene followed her to her first bath while they stitched me up. After being in recovery for a bit, I was taken up to a tiny room in postpartum care, where Aislynn and I spent the next seven days. I thought I would get to go home on Monday, but Aislynn developed jaundice and had to wear a blue light strapped to her back with a hose for 3 days, and they wanted to monitor my blood pressure, then I developed an infection around my incision, and even though Aislynn was ready to go home, they kept her there with me for another day, and monitored the infection. Yesterday they finally released us, so I'm home, just on a lot of meds for pain, antibiotics and blood pressure.

Our spot is one year old! Happy anniversary!

It's now been one year since this blog was created. While use of the spot has been less than robust, I'm still hopeful that over time we will find value within these pages.
